Steven from Hand & Sew recently reached out to me asking if I wanted to partner up on some acrylic leather templates. He took a few of my templates and was able to cut the acrylic using his CO2 laser.
Why Would I Want Acrylic Leather Templates?
Free, printed leather templates are great. I’m not transitioning away from them in any way. You can still download and use all of my free templates here.
If you are making a large number of the same product, though, using paper templates can be a bit cumbersome. There’s lots of printing and taping involved and if you rush it when cutting them out, sometimes the paper can wrinkle, resulting in inconsistently sized leather pieces.
One way around this is printing the template and gluing it to cardboard or foam core to make a reusable one, but these will deform with use. It’s still a good option, but not the best.
Acrylic leather templates can be used over and over again. They don’t warp and don’t degrade with use. No, they aren’t free, but honestly they’re super inexpensive.
Where Can I Get These Acrylic Leather Templates?
Hand & Sew is producing these in New Westminster, BC. It is an awesome store and if you are in the Vancouver area, I’d highly recommend visiting.
If you’re not from the area, you can still get the templates. Just head over to his website and purchase online.
